Regions where it is grown:

• Spain : It is the main grape of Rioja and Ribera del Duero, although it is also grown in other regions such as Toro, Navarra and La Mancha.
• Portugal : Known as Tinta Roriz in northern Portugal, it is a key variety in Douro wines and in the production of Port wine.
• Other regions : It has also been successfully planted in countries such as Argentina, the United States (particularly in California), and Australia.
